HOTEL ONCE – BANGKOK, THAILAND

HOTEL PROFILE

Hotel Once is in a prime location and not far from the closest BTS Skytrain which is Saphan Taksin station. It is also nearby the Chao Phraya river and therefore you can catch a free boat ride to the BTS station or to Asiatique. Although, I prefer to walk directly to Asiatique because it is only ten minutes away. The location is extremely convenient and I even took the local bus from the BTS Skytrain when I first arrived.

The Executive Jacuzzi room I stayed in was incredibly spacious and an open-plan design with exposed Jacuzzi bathtub (as featured above). As you can see, the room also has the most gorgeous window design and fills the room with natural sunlight. This also means you wont be able to block out the sunlight, but I still enjoyed the brightness of this window that added to the mood of the room.

Another favorite feature of mine was the sound system with additional speakers beside the flat screen TV. I primarily listen to music channels when at hotels, so the sound was much greater this time around. Plus, the was the first hotel that offered a TV connected to Youtube. I can’t even tell you how excited I was to be able to play music of my choice and watch other videos on the big screen. The did not have a closet or storage other than a couple of drawers or hangers, so bear that in mind if you’re requiring extra space. I don’t really unpack, so it did not bother me.

DETAILS

There is minimal outdoor space and therefore the pool is more for doing laps than lounging in. I was lucky during my visit that nobody was making use of the pool, so I was able to spend a few hours there each day swimming. However, there is a lovely rooftop view and breakfast is served at the hotel restaurant Top Knot. The breakfast buffet was primarily savory Asian dishes (stir fry, noodles, etc) which made me really miss pancakes and other sweet bread options. The one western dish I noticed, was the pasta which I normally don’t eat in the morning, but went for it anyway. The flavors were great, however, the pasta carbonera sauce needs improvement. I hope to see more western breakfast options on my next visit to Hotel Once and otherwise had a very enjoyable stay!
