ASIA TRAVEL ADVENTURE HIGHLIGHTS

Last year of 2017 was an intense period of travel. I had spontaneously decided to extend what should have been a 2-4 week trip into nearly three months. There were ups and downs, however, I did have some very memorable experiences which I am grateful for. This is an overview of a few of the bucket list activities I added to the list and I will expand more about each topic in upcoming posts also because there’s a story behind every experience as always…

A NEW PERSPECTIVE IN BANGKOK

A simple escape from the noisy city of Bangkok when I visited the Green Lung. One, I was very happy to be able to bicycle freely without worrying about traffic in the main city which I would not risk in the first place. Secondly, there was a sense of quiet which you can’t find in the big city. If you’re searching for the greener side of Bangkok, then you can find it one short ferry-ride away from the inner-city.

RIDING TRAINS IN INDIA

Only seen in Bollywood films up until I ventured to India myself, however,  this train experience definitely made the trip complete. I never felt more like a local than riding the overnight sleeper train, even though, I didn’t actually sleep much as you can imagine the sounds of night would keep a person awake half the time. Aside from that, it was still cool to experience what I’ve only witnessed in movies up until that point.

ELEPHANT RIDE IN THE JUNGLE

When I was searching for the ultimate, unique experience in Bali, I thought it might involve animals. When I considered the vast jungle terrains in Ubud, I figured I should take advantage of the up close experiences with elephants. It was great to be able to pet baby elephants and take selfies with them as I was waiting my turn for the adult elephant ride. Although, horse backing riding on the beach was truly appealing, how can you compare that to an elephant ride? Well, you simply can’t!

ENCOUNTERING MONKEYS IN INDIA

One of the most beautiful scenes I experienced in India was well-beyond the main city of Chennai. I completely forgot that monkeys would be living in the mountains of India and it was more than surprising to see them in their natural habitat. Whereas in the United States, we can only encounter monkeys at the local zoo! Quite a change from the normal treks I’ve taken in the past.
